Leadership Tip: Remember who is in control!
Leadership Tip: Remember who is in control!
Yesterday I posted on instagram about a conversation I had with a pastor. Here’s what it said:
“A couple days ago I met with a man who’s pastored for decades. He told a story about a church he planted years ago:
He had spent years without a drummer for the band. He knew the music could be better, but he couldn’t fix it without this piece. And he couldn’t figure out why musicians weren’t coming to his church. Then after nearly 4 years of frustration, someone suggested he pray fro a drummer to come.
In all that time that’s one thing the pastor had never tried. He prayed and over the next few years more than 10 drummers started attending the church. The pastor couldn’t believe he hadn’t thought to pray about it before!”
As leaders we need to remember who is really in control. It’s so easy for us to forget that it’s not us. Prayer is how we remedy that. If you need people for your team, take the time to pray for them to show up. If you need equipment, pray that God would provide the equipment! If you need more leaders, pray for leaders. If you need more givers, pray for givers. If you ask God to show up, He might just do it.
Work hard to bring those people in. But pray harder to bring them in. Work like it depends on you, but pray like it depends on God! Always remember who is in control!
