Thank Your Team!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, ask yourself, who have I thanked recently?
And I mean really thanked. Who on your team have you really thanked for something specific? I’m not talking about “thanks!” or “thanks for being here” or “thanks for all you do.” You can (and should!) do better than that.
Is there a sound guy that gets to rehearsal before the team to make sure everything is set up and ready to go? Let that sound guy know you see him.
Is there a guitar player who always shows up more prepared than the rest? Thank her for taking the time to be prepared.
Is there a background vocal that helps others find harmonies when they’re struggling? Thank him for stepping up so you don’t have to!
Thank people for what they’re actually doing. Let them know you see them and you appreciate them!
Always remember, especially when leading volunteers, that individuals on the team make sacrifices for the team. They give up their time. They give up their resources. They get up early. They stay up late. They do a lot. And they don’t have to do any of it! Saying thank you is quite literally the least we can do. So if nothing else, let’s do that!
