Leadership Tip
Leadership Tip: Let your team know what is expected of them.
So many problems can be solved by simply laying out expectations. Leaders always have expectations, but many times we fail to explain them to our teams.
Here’s an example: I always expect my team to come into rehearsal having already learned the songs. Always. However, when I started leading at a new church for a season I was confused as to why the team was unprepared week after week. After several conversations it turned out I had never told them my expectations. After I did the team (albeit slowly) got more and more prepared every week.
I had expectations that my team could not carry out because they didn’t know the expectation existed. Lay out expectations and watch how many issues go away!
