Three Ways to Begin Your Rehearsals

How do you begin your rehearsals? If you’re like most worship leaders, you start with set up, most of your musicians noodling, your background vocalists talking about their day, and probably some frustration that you aren’t getting going or faster doing something productive. Does that sound familiar?

Today, I want to look at 3 ways to begin your rehearsals. Of course, you’ll still have to set up, but these are three ways to rein people in and begin focusing on what’s important!

1.    Start with Prayer

Starting with prayer helps you to focus on what’s most important! It gets everyone’s head in the game. Take a moment to pray over your rehearsal, your songs, your team, and Sunday morning! You can’t go wrong starting there!

2.    Start with a Devotional

Starting with a devotional gives you an opportunity to teach your team about worship and grow spiritually as a ministry. It also gives you a chance to discuss concepts that we sing about, but may not often talk about, like glory or holiness. Starting with devotions can be a game changer for the spiritual development of your worship team!

3.    Start with Worship

If you’re able to get everything set up before your team arrives, I’d definitely recommend starting with worship! Just have worship music playing as team arrives. Let it set the tone. Spend a few minutes worshiping together before diving into your rehearsal!

When you start a rehearsal focused on what matters most, the rehearsal tends to stay focused on what matters most! Beginning with prayer, a devo, or worship, helps you to remember why you’re there! Give it a shot! I promise you won’t regret it!
